Mission
Statement
To provide minor nursing, health care, and preventive health measures to those interested. The Nursing Guild also intends to provide general health education that will assist Christians in understanding the relationship between spiritual and physical well being.
History
The Nursing Guild was formed in 1997 by Vivian Davis and Pamma R. Bellamy. The reason for starting the Nursing Guild grew out of a need to improve on the Health Education of the community as well as the need to locate and provide free or reduced cost health care and medication. God has blessed several New Life members with gifts and skills in the Health Care profession who desire to give back to the community. Our past accomplishments include CPR/First Aid Classes on a quarterly basis, Blood Pressure/Glucose Monitoring on a weekly basis, Health Screenings twice a year, and Monthly Medical Seminars. In the future we plan to maintain a record of health forms filled out for each member of New Life, obtain medication free or at a reduced cost, educate New Life and the surrounding community about taking better care of their bodies (focusing on High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Stroke, HIV/AIDS). The Nursing Guild in conjunction with the Lowndes County Partnership for Health will offer "Choose To Lose" which is the food lovers course to permanent weight loss.
